Windows Live Hotmail is Garbage

====I’ll admit it…====
I have a hotmail account. I’ve had it since 1996, so there’s some nostalgia there, but it’s garbage. Sure it looks smoother than it did in 1996, but it’s still the same old weak sauce with the same basic features it had a decade ago.

It was actually easier to log into the web mail back in the day before Microsoft bought them because I didn’t have to put @hotmail.com on the end of my account name. I don’t know why I didn’t get around to this sooner, but the service sucks so bad that I’m finally ditching the account for good.

If you’re curious what hotmail looked like before microsoft sat on them, check this out.

When I say for good, I really mean it. Once I reset the password, I will have locked myself out of the account forever. The password reset email is going to my hotmail account. Yes, the same account that’s getting reset! Why do they even allow that?

Once I click this little button, the password gets scrambled, and the only notification about the new password will be inside the account itself! Sounds like a bug to me, but let’s call it a feature, because I’m going to get good use of it right now.

There’s a temporary problem with the service. Please try again. If you continue to get this message, try again later.

What do you expect? It’s Windows Live. I guess I’ll try again another day…
