How to dominate Battlefield 3 multiplayer

Spot
This has to come first. It’s the key to winning. If you’re not spamming your spot button at the slightest whiff of the enemy, you’re doing it wrong. In fact, don’t wait to see movement. Spotting recons laying prone with your eyes can be hard at range. Try spotting places where you think someone might be hiding. If you see a ledge that looks like a nice covered position with good visibility, chances are someone will be sitting there at some point in the match. You don’t run out of spots, so spot-away!
Tanks, Tanks, Tanks
It doesn’t matter which seat you’re in. Many times as the second gunner you’ll get as many (if not more) kills than the driver. Tank armor protects you from alpha damage so you have a huge advantage over infantry. Be aware of your surroundings and use them to your advantage.Cover provides great protection against other tanks, but will get you killed by infantry.

As the machine gunner:
Watch for an engineer to attempt repairs in the heat of battle. Take him out asap. Scan left and right for infantry and keep spotting the enemy. Look for hiding places that you would use on foot. Watch for engineers to hop out from behind a rock to get a shot off.
If your driver is in a narrow alley or next to a building with windows, watch for C4. Anyone slinging explosives will have to get up close, so put yourself in their shoes and look for openings, windows, gaps in walls, anything that allows them to get up close before exposing themselves. If your driver keeps moving a lot, most demolitions will either come at you from the front or the back. If you’re not moving very fast then watch the sides too. This is where cover hinders you.

As the driver:
If an enemy tank at short or medium range engages you first, evade.
Don’t trade blows with an enemy tank always one shot ahead of you. You should already know how that ends. But if you’re going to die anyway, look for some infantry to take out with you. You might even try switching seats if you don’t have a gunner. There are only two exceptions to all of this.
1. When capturing checkpoints.
You may have to sacrifice your tank to get the enemy wounded. If a friendly engineer is around he’ll smell blood in the water. C4 gets the job done too. Keep track of how many times you’ve been hit and try to jump out as soon as you take the last survivable hit. It’s important that you don’t wait too long after that last shot or else you may find yourself getting blown up when your ride blows up from their next shot. This gives you time to save yourself and possibly get the kill, or other infantry kills while on foot. If you were near cover then you have someplace to hide on foot. Stay alive and capture or defend that checkpoint!
2. When fighting at long range or with superior cover.
Get good at dodging the enemies volley. Hide behind rocks while reloading and don’t forget about your speed burst! If you’re all alone with no gunner, relocate to different cover. Stay alive long enough and your squad will spawn on you.

Helicopter
Get to da choppa
Anyone can fire the guns, but very few people can pilot a bird for more than 30 seconds without blowing themselves up or getting their whole squad shot out of the sky. If you’re the first one to a vehicle and you don’t know how to pilot it, pause for a second and let someone else go first.

Recon
As long as you don’t care about winning the match, camping in battlefield is, and always has been, ridiculously easy and great for padding your kill:death ratio. If you get bored, watch for engineers repairing tanks and pick them off. If your team doesn’t have too many campers, you’ll even be providing a useful service. It’s only a bad thing when half your team camps. That’s when the enemy will steam roll you.
Take note of the other side too. If they’re showing all campers, charge in and take the win. Gather a few friends in a jeep and barrel right into enemy lines. Got C4? Put it on the jeep. This shouldn’t need explaining, but don’t forget to clear the vehicle before operating your detonator. Yes i’m talking about you, last guy in the jeep!
Assault
Check your Loadout
Try short to medium range optics on your main weapon. Try the 4x ACOG, fire in bursts, collect kills. If you’re going to be fighting in hallways, swap your loadout to the shotgun. It’s made for close range, so use it. Get in a squad and stick together. That applies to every class and every game mode.
Frag out!
Grenades are great for controlling the environment and re-positioning the enemy. If you lead with a grenade, the enemy can’t stay where you just threw it to engage you. Get to know your environment. When fighting in an alley with pockets on each side, frag the right side and they’ll scatter like cockroaches to the left or retreat. Use this to your knowledge.
Support
Medic!!!
Find a cluster of assault dudes and lob your box at them. Don’t wait for someone to get injured, just drop the box and get to killing. Even if you don’t do anything else right, you should be collecting points for providing support.
Lay some supressing fire
Don’t underestimate your trusty M4 rifle, but once you get an upgrade or two as support, you’ll have the superior ammo count. Hose the enemy down and collect 50 points just for spraying like a mad man/woman! But watch yourself, snipers will hone in on your position like stink on a monkey.
